I've just come across your site via Google and am amazed to find the group photograph with Florrie Green sitting on the front row. I was looking for a possible mention of Hill Farm in Welborne where Florrie used to live. I keep looking at the Photo and can't believe my good luck. My Auntie Dora, maiden name Webster, as a child used to spend summer holidays at Hill Farm. Although born in Liverpool in the early 1990's, she lived from an early age with an Aunt, Mary Webster, they lived in West Worthing, Sussex. Mary was born in Whitby circa 1875. She had sisters who left Whitby to work in Colman's Mustard factory in Norwich. I don't know what became of them but legend has it that one marrird an Inn Keeper on the City Road. Mary became a Nurse. I have a photograph which Auntie Dora once sent me. On the back, written in another hand , the words," Love Kenneth" under which she has written"Farrow, the only picture I have of the Farrows in Norfolk". It is a studio photograph on a postcard, possibly taken in the 1940's, head and shoulders of a young man, I guess to be in his late teens or early twenties. I'd be very pleased to hear from anyone who can shed some light on the connection between the Websters and the Farrows.
By the way, Is there still a Hill Farm in Welborne ?. I should be very grateful for any response. My thanks go to Mrs. Joyce Curson And many thanks to you.

Dear Mr. Boast I am the 2nd great grandson of Henry Doy who was the blacksmith in Welborne.  I think you will find the man in your photograph taken in the church rooms is not Ted Day but Ted (Edward) Doy. My ancestors owned the 'Old Smithie' in Welbourne from the mid 1800's.  The first was Henry Doy who married Mary Ann Howe who was the daughter of the then blacksmith Thomas Howe.  Henry and Mary's son John followed in the family busy as did his son Arthur and Arthurs son Edward (Ted). I have photographs of the old smithie somewhere and will attemp to loacte them and forward copies. Trust this is of some interest. Graham Doy

Not quite sure how I came across your site but it's particularly interesting to me to find that there is another Trevor Curson alive and kicking in the UK.  Much of my family on the Curson side is descended originally from Norfolk, and from the photograph of the young John Curson I recognise a family likeness.

I found your site when looking for information about England. Very nice and informative. I made a link
from my website, so everyone can enjoy it.

I have just looked over the web site on Welborne Village and hope to visit there in 2006. According to our family history records, the Welborn family of which I am a part is descended from an Edward Welborne who arrived in the present state of Maryland in the 1690’s. He apparently was young, unmarried and was probably an indentured servant. I was wondering about the Church records of Welborne and other sources of local history. Also, if one were to visit the area, would Norwich be the closest place to stay? Thanks for the information, and I appreciate the work done on the web site.

Dear Sir/Madam,
I am wondering if you have any information on a family that seems to have
taken its name from your village in medieval times. I have a Miss Welborne
marrying a John Pecke of Bottem on Swale YKS in the 1300s. He was born c
1306.
Yours from Australia

My husband and I visited Welborne this past July and were intrigued by the unusual woven "huts" that were in the church yard.  Could you send me some information on these interesting little vine weavings?
My Doubleday family lived in Welborne in the late 1700s and our tour of England included visits to my ancestral towns in Norfolk.  East Tuddenham and Saham-Toney were included.

Thanks for any help you can be on these interesting little "buildings."
